Dynomat Alternatives?

The thread title basically explains it all here. Im looking to sound deaden my trunk. I dont want to buy dynomat, since its very expensive. Has anybody else used something other than the usuial "dynomat" type stuff, and had good results? I thought about spraying the inside of my trunk with that undercoating spray stuff, since my trunk is just lightly painted metal, with a little piece of cardboard with carpet for a floor. But then I realized how bad that would smell, and I decided against it.

Looking for suggestions

do a search on brownbead or brownbread (can't remember which). It is a cheaper alternative to dynomat. Ohhh - and the dynomat type stuff has a tar smell to it ...... so it will take a few days for it to cure. Keep that in mind.

be advised ... ALL the dynomat type stuff is tar based - it WILL make your car stink for several days. If you are able, leave it open (open doors and trunk) as often as possible for the first few days. Leaving it at home in the garage is the best (if that's an option).
