That's exactly what I needed. An exhaust will bolt right up to your exhaust manifold, but you won't be able to buy a header unless you get an oem cat or test pipe to link the two together in a ~1.5 ft length. Here's a shitty drawing to aid you.

HX
exhaust pipe..........cat&manifold

=------------------=======E

EX
exhaust pipe...........cat...manifold

=------------------|===|==E

The exhaust pipes are just as long, but the exhaust manifold is shorter because the cat takes up space in between the two. Buy an exhaust, don't even bother with a header, and get a cold air intake. You'll be plenty happy with that.

You go on believing what you want to believe - and I will go on believing what I want to believe.

DX coupe is 2271 lbs

HX coupe is 2324 lbs

But which one is lighter? HX does the 1/4 in 17.3 EX in 16.8

Got your facts wrong there buddy.

thanks for the help, i really appreciate it. if i got the exhaust like you said would i be able to get a header if its designed specificly for the hx or do you think that would still cause problems. i guess it doesnt really matter if i get headers or not, just curious to see if it can be done easily.

A header designed for an HX sounds either good or bad. If it comes with an integrated converter that would be awesome. If it doesn't, and just comes with an extended pipe to reach the exhaust, it will sound like shit and an engine light will pop up. Seriously, don't even bother getting a header. They do make the exhaust sound better, but it's not worth the headaches and money that I've gone through/you'll have to go through, for 4-5 horsepower.

Got your facts wrong there buddy.
I didn't have the facts wrong, i just posted them backwards, my fault. I'm fully aware that the EX is .5 faster than an HX. The stats I have on them, however, say 17.1 for EX, 17.6 for HX. Stats can vary - you know that. Doesn't really matter - it's still .5 sec difference.

And i didn't say the HX is lighter than the DX - it's lighter than the EX.

And no one on here is going to argue that a swap will produce a faster car - i don't think everyone that performs a swap does it because they think its a fad (though i'm sure there are exceptions). Perhaps some people would rather see what they can do with what they got. See what kind of car they can squeeze out of that SOHC 4-banger.

At any rate, you hit the crux of it when you said "You go on believing what you want to believe - and I will go on believing what I want to believe. " Just let it go.
