Well considering this model is already close to three months late I'm not committing to anything! However, if I can't get it finished I promise to keep taking photographs Like these:

Phil, that's a mind-blowing model, I find it hard to belive that's actually a 1/24 th scale model, so well built and detailed .

And so what if it's already three months ... even if I had to work on a car about a year to get a similar result, I would be thrilled!

Here are todays progress photos. At the front, grills, bonnet pins, more decals and locating pins for the night stage turning lights have been added. Had a big scare with the headlights. Trying to install them Tamiya's way I cracked the paint off the edge of the right hand side headlight opening. Will have to repair this as best I can and try a different way of installing the light lenses. Probably just sit them in place and glue with 'Future' type floor wax.



After the drama at the front I took it very careful at the rear and rather than force fit chose to enlarge the holes for the tail light clusters. I think the fit must have been very tight in bare plastic, but after several coats of primer, base white, body colour and clear there is no clearance left! Something to be careful of if anybody plans to build this kit in the future.



Lastly a progress shot of the interior, still lots to do, like seat harness and spare wheel tie down.

Can you tell me how you work with those tiny PE parts? What tools do you use to cut them, file them, etc?

About the filing part, I think I found an answer. I bought sand files/sticks this morning (I use metal files to file plastic/resin parts, they don't work on fragile metal parts), and they do a great job on filing pe parts.

Thanks Marco, dunno about winning anything, I've got lucky the past couple of times, cant fool all of the people all of the time

Perseverance is the only way to work with PE, it is very frustrating dealing with those tiny parts! I use a mini file set, tweasers and a pair of long nose pliers (with a flat face). I also have a small metal base that I use for cutting and bending on.

Just got a Scale Motorsports nut and fastener set, haven't used anything off it yet. But it looks great because all the PE is attatched to a rubber sheet. No filing needed - PE heaven

Been thinking about what to build next. Yeah I know I should finish this one first! Got about half a dozen started projects (like the full engine Evo VI and SEAT Cordoba) but don't feel inspired about any of them at the moment. I was thinking of something new like a Ford rally car, either a 2003 Monte Focus or Tommi Makinen's 1994 1000 Lakes Escort. Or a Sportscar like a Le Mans Jaguar XJ220 conversion, AEG Sauber C9 or LMM Crocodile Audi R8. Then there is F1, maybe a Revell FW23 or Toyota?

Any suggestions/requests?

and i agree that this is the best ever evo build i have ever seen. the shell is amazing and flawless. finish is glass like, interior is amazing.

I would love to see the TWR jaguar XJ220 LM done right, by you off course, but that's just my two cents, otherwise, I think any of those would look nice ! If it's near as perfect as this one, it will be a show-stopper.
