New Punto

This is what Fiat claims is the new Punto. It has new engines, new transmissions, new styling, revised interiors, an enhanced specification and small revisions to the chassis.

Three brand-new engines will be available: a 1.3 litre 16-valve 70 bhp Multijet common rail direct injection turbo diesel, a powerful Multijet 1.9 litre 100 bhp turbo diesel, and a new FIRE 1.4 litre 16-valve 95 bhp petrol engine. Four further engines complete new Punto's seven power plant range; revised 60 and 80 bhp versions of the FIRE 1.2 litre 8 and 16-valve petrol units, a 130 bhp 16-valve 1.8 litre petrol engine, and a 85 bhp 1.9 litre JTD Unijet common rail direct injection turbo diesel.

Along with this range are 6-speed and 5-speed manual gearboxes, as well as a choice of two clutchless transmissions: Speedgear is a CVT automatic transmission with selectable, 6-speed sequential mode. Dualogic is a clutchless, 5-speed sequential transmission with manual shift and two selectable fully automatic modes. I don't really understand either of them.

The latest Punto can be identified by a new front end, which features large headlamps and an air dam housing new foglights. This is the same for 3 and 5-door models.
