bike stories (peddle power)

I was riding a trail and busted my tyer and didn't know untill I was at the end of the trail. Now my rim is worped, that makes 2 rims this week. lol had to walk home

My brother was riding in the city and jumped a flight of stairs and broke his lower tube on his 5yr old Spiclized MTB.

I let my friend ride my MTB down this one trail, while I was on my BMX bike ahead of him (no breaks ,and his ass hit a log,and nearly bent the rim in half. He said he "puled the front beak when he saw the log".
well thoes are mine so lets hear yours.

In this post, I'll introduce you to my friends Mr Grammar and Mr Spelling. Just because you are now conversing in a digital, typically informal medium with people you have never met and may never meet does not excuse laziness.

I do not ride, except for at the gym, where I did a 12.5km hillclimb today, and 3x a week. Every week.

You didn't know you blew a tyre? The change in handling and traction didn't make you suspect anything?
In 5 years of racing MTB's XC I can tell you the minute you get a pressure drop in a tyre, you know about it, especially off road.

Specialized trail bikes are not made for jumping stairs....

Hehe.....superman style
Never seen a riderless bike have enough weight behind it to tweak a rim though, I think the log stopped him not the brake

Had a couple of nasties in road racing and had a derailler hanger break and wrap the chain around the chain stay, but nothing serious....
Guess I was one of those people that looked after their stuff and rode with enough skill to avoid the disasters....

I thought the ride was a bit bumper but kept on going it was nothing but down hill. I was on low preshure from the start. I found out I pinched the tube when I fixed the tyer.

Well the spizlized held up to loading docks. they may not be made for it but they can do it.

I dont think my friend knew to keep his whight over the back tyer. Oh well he found out the hard way.

Strengths of materials and structures...layman's terms.....

When impact loading a structure or material not designed for the purpose for what it is being used, the impact loading may cause structural changes in the material which can result in failure....

Put even simpler....jumping off loading docks with a bike not designed to do so will eventually break the bike, in your case the break came on a set of stairs, small difference but the damage was done.
They can do it, but they can only do it for so long....

One other thing for you: http://www.m-w.com

Well my stories don't involve me but, in 7th grade the big thing was to ride our bikes and jump em at "tracks" some kid made in empty lots. Bad ass table tops and whoops. Well one of my friends tried to clear the whoops and didn't make it and the next thing he knew he was in the hosptial with a broken collar bone. Then one of my friends wrecked at the bottom of a tabletop and my buddy riding behind him tried to bunny hop over him and didnt quite make it and landed the rear wheel hard right on his ass.(We tended to be stupid and just ride right behind each other)
