Well, I pulled the code from it and it says - SYSTEM TOO LEAN - BANK 1.

yep i know exactly what is wrong with it, my fiances ford escort zx2 had the same code and it was the o2 sensor, reason: in cars that have 2 o2 sensors there is a bank 1 and a bank 2, bank 1 is before the cat and bank 2 is after, so on the honda or atleast on mine i do believe there is only 1 o2 sensor so it would be bank 1 which is before the cat....

Would a bad O2 sensor cause the car to stall like its been doing? Also, I'm burning a lot of gas lately - would this effect this as well?

I'm going to pick up a new o2 tonight and see if that makes a difference. I hope that is the problem - I'd hate to spend the money if its not necessary.

What's bugging me about mine is that the code I'm pulling says I'm running too lean, but I'm still burning way too much gas. I was under the impression that my mileage would do the opposite.

maybe you are having a condition called a lean misfire. when the engine gets too little air to burn the little fuel it gets, that's what happens.

my situation is different in that i don't get a check engine light.

What would cause that? How would I check it and / or fix it?

Just one question, does your car have power brakes? cuz if it does, there could be a vacuum leak in the brake boosters...resulting in the sudden shut off.

Well, I replaced the O2 sensor this morning and I'm still having the same problem. I reset the ECU and the CEL hasn't come back on yet. Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Here is what is happening:
When I start the car, it idles fine - even if I give it a lot of gas. Once I put some strain on the engine by putting in gear and letting out clutch it wants to stall once the clutch is disengaged again. Even if I only move a few inches. Once it stall and I restart it w/ the key it will idle fine until strain is placed on it again. If I start it by popping the clutch, it wants to stall again.
