I just want my X to be different than the rest.

It did feel weird to take sandpaper to the hood

It is a flat matte paint and will settle a bit in time.

It looks pretty good I have to admit and it will look cool when you paint all the plastic. I have been considering painting the plastic let me know what paint you use and whether it holds up. On a side note why did you paint it rather than use some sort of custom cut vynil.

Thumbs up I like it.

Damn, that looks really cool! I like. What kind of paint is that, it looks kind of like this low-texture truck bedliner stuff that my friend Mark painted his 4Runner with this past summer.

Looks cool

I think that will help with sunlight blinding you too! You know, driving into the sunset or sunrise!

Thanks guys...

Here are some more details:

Prep:
Taped off the area to be painted
Took 600 grit sandpaper and took the shine off

Paint:
Used flat black metal spray paint (Tremclad Amour series I think)
Used two cans doing many coats

Cost:
$22.00

The guy that helped me (well did most of the work ) has done this to his LR Disco and it has held up well for two years.

VaderX-
The paint will not crack and peel like a vinyl sheet will (especially black in the sun). Also you have more control painting since it is easier to tape and paint than try and apply a large sheet perfect.

Hey Rhombus, you really need one of those big Firebird flaming-chicken decals on your hood now, THAT would the perfect final touch.
