The Tamiya VW New Beetle kit has male rims. Does anyone know what aftermarket rims would look nice, and are also MALE rims? So far, all the aftermarket rims i have are Female.

Why don't you convert them?
You could use styrene that will fit or you could use the pegs from the bettle wheels.

It's pretty hard to find aftermarket male wheels. Tamiya seem to be the only manufacturer to use the male wheels. Hasegawa have male wheels on their kits, but their aftermarket sets are female like Fujimi's.
I think you have a couple of options: 1) Utilise a set of wheels from another Tamiya kit. 2) Carry out a conversion. |

Some of the Aoshima kits come with male wheels, I have two Chasers and they both came with males, not sure if their aftermarket stuff has both though ?

Here is a photo of my in progress new Beetle with aftermarket wheels (Fujimi).
![]() To adapt those wheels i have to file down the front of the rotors a little bit and cut the back of the rotors to move them inside the fenders. The poly caps that go inside the rotors are to be trimed to fit the new space inside the rotors. Also, I file down more or less half of the center section of the wheel where the poly cap go. The poly cap was cut by the half also. Then I use 2mm styrene rod to install the wheels. Even cutting the poly caps by the half they hold the wheels very well. If you do not made this modifications the wheels are going to be stiking out too much.
