Im a relatively newb modeler...what does it mean to convert wheels/rim from male to female or visa versa?

Most model car wheels are attached with a single post in a hole.
If the wheel has the post and the suspension/chassis has the hole that accepts it, the wheel is male. If the wheel has the hole to accept the post from the suspension/chassis, the wheel is female. Some kits use one method, some the other. Is you want to use wheels from one type on a car from the other, you'll do best to change the attachment method. HTH! Welcome to AF!
