what else do I need for this B20 swap?

ok, well, I was going to swap in a B18b soon, but decided that for cheaper, I might as well do this.

the B18b swap runs about 2300 on hmotorsonline.com

B20b block 980*
P75 ECU 125*
Y80 hydro tranny 300*
uncut OBD1 3rd gen harness 100*
JE 10.5:1 pistons 550*
B18b intake manifold 125*
TPS sensor 30*
alternator 75
starter 50
Bosch platinum plugs 20*
new wires, cap, rotor 50*
flywheel off of 96 LS 50*
new clutch 130*
axles 100
shift linkage 75*
4-2-1 headers 110
new cone filter for my PVC CAI 10*
short shifter free*

so for 190 more I got more torque, more HP, I/H/E, tune up, and a new clutch.

is there anything more I need to do the swap?

and if the B20 with 8.8:1 has 133 lb/ft @ 4300 and 126hp @ 5400 rpm
and the b20 with 9.6:1 has 133 lb/ft @ 4500 and 146hp @ 6200 rpm

and the b18b with its 9.2:1 has 127 lb/ft @ 5200 and 142hp @ 6300 rpm

so do you think Ill have about 160hp or so and stil around 133 lb/ft of torque?

going tomthe bank right now to put some $$$ on my card and then im gonna start ordering. think I could get it all done in 3-4 days If I work hard?

also, If I am only getting new pistons, and everything else has been broken in, I dont need to take it easy for a long time, right? I wanna race it on the 7th of next month

so your raising the compression and not putting a vtec head on? i guess its a good start but i would suggest putting a vtec head on later. for now its good and yes you could get it done in 3 days with hard work. i dont think youll get 160 hp with just higher compression pistons. maybe torque but not hp. hp is based on how much you can flow through the engine, not cram it in at low rpms. thats where the b20 head is the worst is on top end. you cant get enough flow out of that head without major work to put out 160hp. youll be pretty fast for the time being considering the amount of torque youll have. when you swap the vtec head on youll be really quick.. good luck,

im actually planning on building an NA 2L 8v torque monster for my next vw im getting. it will have only 8valves, its a 4 cylinder engine so when im done it should be putting down a good 160 lb/ft of torque with about 130hp. and that will be in a 1600 lb car!!! ill be spinning tires like crazy when im done!!!!

yes, later I plan on going vtec, but for now dont have all the dough.

and I should be able to take most hondas off the line with this setup, right? how long til they catch up.

so in the 1/4, Ill probably pull ahead first, then watch everybody go flying by about halfway through?

so will there be a noticable power increase from the pistons, or would the money be beter spent on some cams, the only way Id get cams thoiugh would be if later on I couyld use them in my crvtec.

and the vtec heads have 3 lobes in a group for 1 cylinder, and non vtecs only got 2. If I got stage 2 cams for a GSR and put them in, wil;l the tall 3rd lobe hit the rocker assembly? or will they work fine. because theres no way im spending 450 for cams if I gotta ditch em later on.

I am gonna wait on ordering the pistons for a while just to see the response of this. maybe for the 500 I can just get a civic SI or integra GSR head and do the vtec swap, but a CRVTEC with 8.8:1 cr will be slow, wont it?

first of all with those pistons in the b20 you should be able to take most hondas all the way down the quarter. and no dont get cams yet. your vtec cams will not go in a non vtec head. yes do the pistons first because your car will be slow without them even with vtec. so after you build the block with the pistons, save money then go buy yourself a b16 head. then save up again and build the head. make sense?

yeah, but say I didnt do either high cr, or vtec, what about a basic turbo kit (just manifold, turbo, BOV, oil lines, piping) will stock injectors handle the requirement of 7 psi of boost. anything else needed right away to TC my b20. and would 7 psi of boost to 8.8:1 have a greater benefit than no boost but 10.5:1.

could I just get some gsr harness plugs, tap it into my engine harness and add a few wires that arent on my harness and tape up the harness again so there isnt any loose wires anywhere. how many sensors, solonoids, etc. are there on the vtec engines than the non vtec ones?
