low coolant
my 95 caprice 4.3L is slightly low on coolant. I have some dex cool from a different vehicle, is it ok to mix the dex cool in with the coolant in the car. I am going to get the coolant system flushed in about a week or so.

Re: low coolant
You should never mix coolants. Unless your car was meant to work with Dex Cool, don't do it. I have an '02 truck and can only use Dex Cool.

long term the engine will overheat and the gaskets start to blow out. make sure the heater core is flushed out separately when the coolant is replaced. this should be done every 3-4 yrs when , this dexcool requires replacement.. always use DISTILLED WATER , tap water is dirty and contaiminated with corrosive chemicals. your coolant is low , now is the time to find out why . not after the coolant replacement. if the caprice has silicate coolant or compatible coolant you must stick with this coolant ..do not use dexcool if this is so. also compatible coolants are not DEXCOOL. USE OF COOLANTS THAT DO "NOT" HAVE , THE GM APPROVED DEXCOOL ON THEM , ARE NOT TO BE USED WITH A VEHICLE REQUIRING DEXCOOL. |
