I have a wonderful 1994 Pontiac Firebird Tran Am GT 5.7L V-8 350... Great car!! for the last few weeks my low coolant light has been coming on at around 190 degrees. but there is PLENTY of coolant in both the radiator and overflow!and no overheating!!!! I just replaced the thermostat today and it came on on the way home and it was only at about 185 this time! I just replaced the water pump about a year ago! Darn car! someone PLEASE help me! Why is my car being a poopy butt with it's coolant light????? :

Me and my dad replaced the water pump for a '99 trans-am LS1, because I was having the same problem that you are having with the light comming on. Well I thought that I had resolve the same problem you were having, but the problem may be is that the low coolant sensor is going bad... We are going to check on that but we have to put the car on a lift. Keep in touch with me for the out come of this....

A Trans Am GT????? Anyway, yea its prolly the low coolant sensor possibly could be a coolant temp. sensor also.

My Firebird had the same problem. I just replaced the coolant lever sensor. It is located on the passenger side rail of the radiator. Part about $60.
Pretty easy to change. Good luck!! |
