yukon transmission issues

I have a transmission issue that involves the shift indicator. I had someone repair the transmission. It now has a couple problems. First the shift indicator on the dash is indicating reverse when the key is turned on. The car will not start unless you put the shift indicator in the Neutral position, Which is reverse. All the indications on the dash are off by one position. P is not indicated. R is the park position. N is the reverse, D is neutral. 3 is Drive, 2 is 3rd, 1 is second and 1st does not change. The transmission works all the gears shift and change. The real problem is the starting in reverse. I need to know what is going on? How can it be repaired?. Also there is a leak at the transmission to the transfer case. Is this a seal problem or a gasket? The leak does not get worse when it is running.. Thanks Dan

Re: yukon transmission issues

We cannot diagnose a transfer case leak from here, when the trans was done the case was removed so this may be a comeback on the shop? The gear selector position is also related to removing the trans. something is out of adjustment. Always post the year also.
