Question Best one??

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and was hoping to get soem advice. Currently I drive an 89 Corvette but I have fallen in love with BMWs. After looking around a little I think I want a 540i but there are so many differant types of BMWs I'm not sure. With a realistic price range what is the best BMW out there? I'm looking for about as much performance as my Vette but with the class a BMW brings. Thanks a lot!
Tim

Last time I've seen a vette (they are rare here in Holland) a corvette was the sportscar of (Chevrolet). And not to be negative, but they don't get good results in (magazine) test over here.
A BMW 5-series is a sporty sedan. It has a good roadhandling (but not like a european sportscar) and quite a bit of interior space (On the frontseats it's all okay, but legspace in the back is not that great, it's just enough). The sportivity depends on the engine witch it has. Fastest in this model is the BMW M5, 5-liter, 400-hp V8 see here for more specifics.
But as replacement of a Corvette I think the fastest model of the 3-series (BMW M3) is also a car you'll like. There is more info on the same site about is. It's depending on your budget, but the new Z4 is also a nice sporty roadster.

Succes in finding your first of many BMW's

Thank you for the reply. After posting I researched a little more. The M3 looks like a great car. The M5 would be my first choice probally but the M3 is closer to my price range. Thank you for the link, that site has a ton of info.

Ummm....a vette isn't a big block, its a small block. And switching from an 89 Vette, it will probably be a lot faster depending on if you had anything done to the vette.

Hey now , I have a BMW with a six cyl and 120 hp, to me any V8 is a big-block! I also feel a little disapointed with the new M3.

Tex, I had a few things done to the Vette but nothing major, has about 260hp. Which did you mean would be a lot faster?
Kaoru, why were you dissapointed with the M3? Performance?
I probally won't be getting a new one. 1998-1999
