1960's muscle car mustangs what the best one

I would like to know which mustang from 1960 to 1970 creates the most horsepower and which is the best over all. like the 289 and the 302 engine and any other engine that might be better.

Yeah, what he said. LOL

So between 64-70, it would be the 1970 428 4-bbl Boss which was rated at 375hp at 5600 rpms.

yea, EVERY thing was underrated and this isn't really a good question.

i would have to say 67 as the best, but you gotta remember if you had the money back then you could convice the dealer to stuff ANYTHING into for you. hell there are 427 mustangs going around.. (mind you the 427 was rated at 435hp, while it was really running at over 650hp)

Best over all, I'd say the 67. Really a personal choice though, I chose it (its what I own) because it still has the classic look and light weight of the earlier cars, but will take a bigger engine and looks a lot tougher. I think in 67 you could buy one and have a 428 dropped in. I think 390 was the biggest offical engine that year. Power seems to be covered pretty well.

I'd take it. My favorite years were 67 and 69. The 69 Boss & Mach 1 and 67 shelbys.

Not to be harsh but there was no such animal as a 428 4bbl boss.
There was a 428 CJ, 428 SCJ, a Boss 429 , boss 302, 427, 390, 351W, 351C, 410 (mercury), 302, 289, 289 K code (very sweet), 428 PI, and several other choices not necessarily available for every year.

My favorite engine would be the 427 8V ....Very nice.
My favorite body style 69 mach 1...

For now I'll stick with my 69 mach 1 with a 390 4spd and a 3.25L out back. Yes they had 390's in 69 mach 1's...

Your right, that was a typo. It was supposed to be 429, not 428.
