engine mounts
alright...so i'm just gonna keep on asking questions that appear stupid, but I really want to know more. So what're engine mounts. and do they give you a big performance increase?

No, not really. They are just a part that is made of metal and rubber. It holds the engine in place and lets it flex a little. If they go bad it can cause the car to shake and make annoying sounds. But no they do not increase performance.

What can increase performance is known as a torque over restraint. It consists of a chain attached to one bank of cylinders (normally a chain attached to a bolt screwed into an empty thread) and the other end attached to the chassis. When an engine is reved quickly, energy is transfered to rocking the engine (which is wasted), the restraint limits how much energy is wasted. This is good for several points of a second in a quarter mile.

The only performance gains you can get come from using stiffer rubber like Polyurethane or like drag cars use solid metal motor mounts. All this done is like said before keep the engine from twisting inside the bay and that power forcing it's way into your tranny. Problem with solid motor mounts which need to be used with solid tranny mounts is it will shake your car like crazy. So if your looking for Performance try somewhere else cause this is a last resort
