Can you do this to get more air?
How about taking a soft bendible pipe of some sort, and running it from the tube opening that is behind that right headlight, and down to where the holes are on the bottom of the front bumper? Would this work since air is forced more into the air box when moving? What are the pros and cons of doing this? How about during winter for example, or if something gets inside the tube? Thanx

i was thinking of doing something like that... you would have to have a pretty big tube... my pipe by the headlight isnt gonna be hooked up to my airbox since im gonna have a stillen/k&n type filter... basicly im going to have that pipe blowin air on my filter so if it gets clogged i will still be getting air in just without the forced induction... does that make any sense?

How about put the tube near the back of the fans, so when the fans spin, it automatically pushed air into the box. You also dont have to worry about shit getting into the box and cloggin it up. Any ideas?

ram air huh? humm.... probably worried about water getting onto the filter than anything...
my lude's got a competition intake by iceman. the cone filter is inside the front bumper and getting a lot of cool air from behind the front fender area. the first thing I noticed when I put the comp extention on was more torque off the line and deeper meaner tone all the way up to redline. its a nice system. gonna get a vafc (apexi) for it this week.

Plus the air going through the radiator would be hot air. As for the pipe towards the bottom of the car..??? I think i'd be to worried about all the shit you could pick up off the road.

On my old civic, I had some piping go down below the front bumper. I had a regular WAI. I built a small box around the cone filter, with there other end of the pipe aimed towards the filter. I will see if I can get some pictures made up. Yes it can be done, and yes, it will be better than what is there now. But no it will probably not give you any gains. No, you really would not be able to get water up there, unless physics have changed.

Basically, if you run the pipe to an opening in the bumper it might help, but so slight as to be unmeasurable either on the dyno or on the track.
Forget any ideas about ram air. The engine is sucking air so fast that there is no positive pressure there. A lot of people mistakingly think this would be a ram air set-up, but it takes a lot more than that. If you want to put high pressure air into your intake, source it from the base of the windshield. That is a true source of positive pressure as the base of the windshield is a pretty high pressure area. Forget any ideas about it really affecting the air intake temp worth a hoot - at least not enough to be measurable.

What about trying something like this, the hood scoop. This is what the homies for Japan did? I think this would be the same as running a CAI to the fender. Assuming that you setup an encloser near the filter.

The HP gain for air tmp isn't worth tryin to do a custom intake system. I have heard that for every 10° cooler the air goin into ur motor, you get about .5hp. I guess you could gain a few HP off of it... but I wouldn't. And about gettin air into ur motor, you wont have to worry about it unless ur tube gets totally sumurged in water. Think of it like a straw. When their is not much left in ur cup, water goes up the side of the straw to a point, then falls back to the bottom, but if their is enough water it will suck it up.

Your Basically trying to make a cold air intake!!
by runing a pipe all the way down to the factory air box in the wheel well you just put the filter at the end of the pipe and hook up the other end to the throttle body |
