Cool Adjusting e-brake

Hello,
Does anyone how to adjust the e- brake on an Alero 2.2 liter 2004?
And does anyone know what the gapping distance of the spark plugs are? There is not information under the hood or in thr door jam./
Thanks for your time

Re: Adjusting e-brake

Spark plug gap = .060"

Since there is no parking brake cable adjustment there is an adjuster on each rear wheel under the top hat part of the disc rotor assembly assuming you have disc brakes on the rear and not drum brakes. You'll have to remove the rear wheel, caliper and caliper bracket to pull the rotor. Then you will see the horseshoe shaped parking brake pads. At the top will be a star shaped adjuster. As you adjust this the parking brake shoe will expand out. Adjust to where the rotor can still fit freely over the shoes without binding and turns freely. The other option is to replace the parking brake shoes since they wear out quickly but are expensive around $75-$80.

And welcome to AF.

Re: Adjusting e-brake

Yeah Bob I was unaware of this little adjustment.

When I switch my SE's rear drums to discs last week I noticed that starshaped bolt.

Learn something new everyday

Re: Adjusting e-brake

Same here JC. I found out because I'm a cheap bastard and decided to take the save money route. Doesn't make sense why they would wear out with under 50K miles and having no cable adjustment. But it is good to know the adjustment is there.
