Clutch slipping?

For a month or so now my clutch has been slipping when I release the clutch (well when I do so, my car shakes pretty bad). It doesn't do it so bad in higher gears, or after it's been warmed up. I'm not sure if there is oil on my clutch or what. I was wondering if anyone knew of any ways i could check to find the exact problem without ripping my engine or tranny apart to do so.

Is the clutch engaging really high up? If it is, try adjusting your clutch cable. I believe that you rotate the plastic knob by the shift fork clockwise (not completely sure tho- it's been a while ).
As far as checking to see if you have oil on your clutch disk, the only way that you will know for sure (unfortunately) Would be to remove your trans, and then remove the pressure plate to expose the disk. hope this helped a little

clutch

What your describing is called clutch chatter. Does the clutch grab if you were to drop it at like 3k ? Does it just chatter or slip or both ? Chatter is usually caused by the flywheel having heat spots on it, or it's possible your pressure plate is goin to shit.

The clutch grabs fairly well if i dump it at 3k, slips a little if i'm pulling out on a hill, chatters most other times.

Clutch

Than i wouldn't worry too much about it. Unless it slips bad. Chatter is a some what common things for a clutch to do. Some new ones do it if the flywheel isn't machined correctly when a new clutch is put in. I guess just go with it, but you might want to think about putting a new clutch in, in a few months or whenever yours gets too bad.

Re: Clutch slipping?

Liar. Easites way is go under the car and look up were the trans mounts to the engine. Remove the bracket between the two and you will the see the trans cover. Remove the four bolts and pull off the cover. If you feel oil in there, it is probaly a rear main seal.
