Letter cars

I know it is a stretch, but we will consider the 300 Letter cars as muscle cars for this forum. They certainly had muscle car engines.

If you've ever been taken for a ride in one there would be no question about it. The brother owns a 1970 300 HURST, with a 440 TNT. Looks great and is extremely fast, not many cars around here can touch it. It laughs at cobra mustangs, the new SVT gives it a run but doesn't beat it.

Not the new supercharged SVT, they are FAST.
How about vettes? We've raced just about everything with it.
C5 vette is no problem, the Z06 has the edge though.
We also beat a 67 firebird with a 400 2 4 BBL's, it was all cammed up and everything. He had never been beat at his high school, I had never been beat at mine-needless to say he brought no challenge. I smoked him with the AC on. I toyed with him, let him catch up a little and than I stomp on it-it was quite fun. I took it up to like 140 or so, buried the 120 needle anyway.

It was dual 450 Holleys. But I have heard it's easy to overcarb a pontiac, so i'm not sure. It was definitely fast though, and he had barely legal wide tires in the back. High stall converter, and a neck snapping shift kit.

Yup, it is. 800cfm max, is what I've always been told. For my 437 I was told to run a 750. Dual 450s aren't too bad. We are a bit off topic, so hows about those Letter cars? I'd like to know more, because you don't hear about them much.

Not all of them had hemi's. Hemis '55--'58 (331, 354, 392). 413 Wedge '59-'64 (crossrams or inline 2x4 depending on the year). 413 w/ a single 4 bbl in '65. And everything after that - '66-'71 (300 Sports only, no letter cars) had a 440. Sorry if I sound like a know it all, but damn I love these cars and they definitely have guts!
