Talking I just won a bid!!!

I just won a bid on e-bay! I just out-bid a guy on e-bay in the very last seconds of the auction and just won my family a 1991 Saab 9000 5-door standard tranny!

I'm soooooooo excited! I will have another 5spd to drive around while my baby is in the shop, and it's so cool b/c it's a 4 door hatch, which aren't common out my way, so it's awesome. And I'm so excited. I love car shopping... and buying is even better!!!!! Now I just need to get better in 4 days so we can drive out there, and I might "have" to drive it back since I'm one of 2 people in my family that knows how to drive a standard! Dude, even though I hadn't been feeling too much better, I do now. This is just too exciting! I can't believe my awesome technique won the bid! :flash: :flash:

Okay, end of rant!

Congrats Tangie!

I must say you've got more guts than me. I'd be way too scared to bid in an auction without seeing what I was bidding for in person.

Now you just get better so you can go get it.

Thanks! I'm still beeming over the ordeal. But I've settled down a wee, which is good to do at 3am. We haven't had a Euro car in a while. Last one was a VW rabbit convertible which was from a LONG time ago. I barely remember riding in it!!!

OK I will refrain from a smart-arse comment this time, as I don't know what a VWRabbit is :finger:

Yeah, I thought so.
Its a baby Golf.

Not quite in the same class as the SAAB.

The 9000 is a nice car though. Certianly much more sophisitcated than your G.

Well done Tangie. Well I think so anyway.

Why a SAAB?? They are a bit of an orphen in NZ.
Most people can't stand them. (We have every model of Japanese car ever made here so that makes a difference for us.)

As long as it makes you happy that's really great.

The Panda hopes you have lots of Fun!!!

Well, since Primeras run wild over in NZ you wouldn't quite understand how much I enjoy having a car that is a bit of a rarity here. My G20 isn't going anywhere (well, besides home once the fuel injector gets replaced). As for why Saab... it wasn't so much a concious choice like "Oh, let's go find us a Saab." It was more along the lines of my family needed another family car, and this happened to fit the criteria rather well. As such we went for it.

I sure hope to have a bit of fun! I love driving standards!

I borrowed an old Saab 9000 years ago...only cool thing about it was it had a sunroof....

it was definately not a Snaab(snob), more like a Slaab(slob)

personally,I think that Saab have a solid reputation as safe reliable and stylish cars.A touch on the tame side but a good choice for a family runabout.
The fact that they are grossly overpriced in NZ(as are most european imports)means that the average kiwi tends to favour the Japanese option,as used european cars are a bit of a liablity for maintenance and insurance.

I doubt very much that you could buy a similar vehicle in this country at that price. But the way the average Kiwi drives, the safety factors built into Swedish cars could make all the difference in an emergency.
