6-bolt :) Just won the bid!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Slowb...91056058QQrdZ1

Just won the bid, $1700 to my door. I don't think I got the best deal out there, but RRE was giving me $3000 for the same thing, and SBR $2550. Whadda ya think?

The link doesnt work, but you do get what you pay for. I wouldnt trust anything on eBay, especially after dropping $1700

The link should work now. The only reason why I got it, was because it was an SBR block being sold by SBR. I called them up today twice to confirm everything. Either way, I saved enough dough to make it worth it for me: the same thing shipped to my door from SBR was $2550. RRE was a bunch more.

As for the install...its going to take time. Gotta accumulate the labor first.

Pretty sure it crankwalked, though can't specifically remember the clutching symptoms happening. I was sent an audio file by joemathews of crankwalk, and my car sounds almost the same. There was going to be some labor involved in taking the block apart to physically see what was going on, (but it started turning into a clanging sound in the end), so I thought that I might as well get a 6-bolt now. Not that I have $7700 lying around (RRE's CRAZY quote for a 2.4 stroker 6-bolt, fully installed), but I thought I'd rough it out and get parts myself. Saved a lot of dough on the block alone, though there was a complete 6-bolt crate motor (pan to cover, complete, with 30XXX miles, stock) on ebay for $900 buy it now...wouldve gotten it, except the guy refused to ship to CA.

I guess it was time to get a 6-bolt, though I wish the damn 7-bolt bastard would've lasted longer. Only 125XXX pampered miles. My friend's 96 stock GST has 170xxx and knock on wood, hes running the stock turbo and the stock motor, and i pray to god it stays that way till he can afford a sweet upgrade.

I kind of had a feeling and hinted to it earlier in the post you made in the problem diagnosis subforum. Damn 7 bolt POS. Your doin right though, you car will be a monster waiting to be unleashed on the streets when it's all done. Slap a 20g and supporting mods on that thing, not many cars you would lose to.

Re: 6-bolt :) Just won the bid!

I can't imagine the fun once it's installed...9200 RPM redline!? oh hells yeah! I guess I'll be needing one of those race heads too, if I'm to use the block to its full potential. I'll be posting on that soon enough...

Sweet! On the Spyder in your sig, right?

Did you piece your swap together, taking it part at a time (block, head, swap kit, etc), or did you get a crate motor and slap it on? I need help deciding what head to get with the bock. Putting the 2G head back on would be a limiting factor, or so it seems logical to think...I'm going to be up all night trying to research that anyhow. SBR makes some badass race heads, you can even chose your own valve springs!
