Replaced all my Speakers with Pioneers!

Goddam my old speakers were crappy Alpines with Cardboard Cones. Ewww. Now I finally got my Pioneers in. The door speakers were really easy. But on the rear I had to drill some holes since my old ones were mounted on 3 screws and the new ones takes 4 screws. But that was pretty easy and they sound much better than those old pos ones.

I think they are 130 and 160 watts max or something. I don't know anything about watts and amps or any of that, but now I am thinking I might get a very small amp and sub.

i had that problem, my 6-3/4 pioneers dont even come close to clearing the windows, so i had to ghetto rig something, so the speakers are angled just right as to not hit the window anymore, although i had to have my car re-tinted.

I would definatly hook those up to an amp anyways. HU power is horrible compared to a good amp Get one of those 5 channel amps. 4 for your pioneers and 1 for your sub I think alpine has one.... Order a Crutchfield catalog and look at the specs in there and match up your RMS power, not max and then go online and price compare. Crutchfield is always high

I don't think my Speaker has ever hit the glass, these weren't terribly large speakers, most of the good stuff seemed to be in the center of the cone.

Those speakers are tight, I have those in my doors. I bought them on ebay for like $10 and I was told that they retail for about $70 - $100.

Here is the story of my car, mods, and stereo setup.

After outgrowing my 1973 MGB GT. I needed something else. Originally I was looking at 90-93 Integra's, 88-91 Civic Hatches, and 93-97 Corollas. After a while I found my blue civic sedan parked for sale on a road near my house notorious for car sales. The guy was asking $2700 and said that it had a new engine. After telling my dad, I showed it to him, he liked it and we made an appointment with the guy to have a shop check it out. The shop said it needed $500 in repairs to make it into good running order, and the A/C was broken. Since this car blue book value at the time was $3100 we talked the guy down to $2400 and he said OK. The guy took out his stereo and put the stock stuff back in. The next day, I found that the guy completely took out the rear speakers, but that was no problem because I had some 6 1/2" alpines from the MG which fit perfectly. About a week later I bought an Aiwa Z-117 CD Deck for $99 and I bought clears on eBay for the front because the bumpers were broken, and I got corners because hey, it has to match. A while later I decided that the front speakers were pretty crappy and I wanted to replace those. I went on eBay and found the pioneers. About a week after mailing off the M/O for the Pioneers, I came out to my car to go to school, and when I attempted to turn on the radio, my hand fell into the hole where it was supposed to go. I had been robbed and I was ever so pissed. I headed off to Best Buy to buy another stereo, and settled on my Aiwa X-217, which was one up from the one I had. The new featured were VU Meter, Detachable face, Illumination in Blue or Red (other one was just blue) and a second AM band. Once I got home, the mail had come and my pioneers were here. I installed the stereo and when I went to do the speakers I found that my door speakers were not Honda ones, but something out of a Chrysler which was ghetto rigged in there. So I had to wire up the pioneers and I fitted them with some self tapping screws from the hardware store. Now my car was looking good.
About a month later, I walked out to my car and noticed, hmm, no exhaust pipe. I looked under it and the muffler had rusted and the end of it and the pipe had fallen off sometime the night before. I bought a new muffler for $139 + $60 install and it came to $200. Now I had a sweet sounding exhaust. About 3 weeks after this I was headed home from a friends house and the car started running real rough. What turned out happening was the distributor failed which caused the car to pour more gas into the engine than it was supposed to which caused the cat to fail. After a new distributor cap, and a new cat (hi-flo because it was cheaper than stock) I was off and rollin. After a while, I decided this car needs rims. After looking around for a while on eBay and craigslist.org I found some rims I liked which a guy had taken off his 97 civic DX coupe. I talked him down from $400 to $300 and bought these rims. After driving around on them for about a month or so, my clutch began acting funny so it was bye-bye rims. I repainted my hubcaps because they had faded so bad they were beige instead of grey. And now my car is looking pretty good. About 1 week after selling the rims, I came out and noticed that my trunk emblem had been stolen. So it was off to eBay and I bought a pair of yellow emblems, which arrived about 1 week later. The hood one fit fine but the trunk one didn’t so I sawed off the hole fitters from the back, and positioned it slightly higher than the stock one was so that it would lie flat on the trunk. I was thinking of not replacing the trunk emblem at all but there were holes in the trunk and I didn’t want water to go in when it rained or when I wash the car. Anyhow, that is pretty much the story of my car so far, and despite some of the stupid bullshit it has done *cough*distributor*cough* I love my civic sedan!.

For the future, I am getting the A/C fixed, a 12" sub, and possibly tint.

HAHA pioneers rule. I have 6 1/2 3 ways in the front and little 4 inch 2 ways kinda getto mounted in the rear. All four pioneers sound good for what they are. I'd maybe like to get a amp down the road, feed them some more power possible. Its better than most stock systems in even newer cars so i'm happy with that.

Interesting note about the 3 ways up front. The magnet was too big to fit in the black cradle the stock speakers sit it. But take the cradle out and try to bolt them to the door and now you can't roll the windows down. Solution? cut the back porting of the cradle out, just enough for the magnets and everything fits fairly tight but like a glove hehe
