MX6's
Personally, it depends on how the car was treated before...If someone who owned it before didnt keep up on maintenance and all then it'll prolly run into probs...I bought my 88' mx6 and the guy who owned it musta thought it'd last forver so now 4 months after i bought it, it is running into some probs and it only has 115k original miles!! So, it mostly depends on who recently owned it, but overall......They're good cars even if they got probs cuz u fix it and they're great (speed/gas mileage/looks)...lol,here in AK you dont see very many of these cars so its also an eye catcher here
Peace, Nikki |

yes, it all depends on the previous owners and it wasn taken cared. I own my car for 2 years now, but I had to get tranny rebuild and CV and axle fixings. I also got new steering rack and bushings. So I guess I got a sour lemon. But you can have a great previous owner and your car might be mint. either way, every car would apply to this...

Yea, I have the same problems with mine, the left cv joint started goin bad about 3 weeks after i bought it then the bearing is going out too
I think I will have to replace my trannt also, no reverse! Other then this, usually i see people complain about these same problems.,...I think its just a fault in the mx6's or somethin....but, the way i see it is ur gonna eventually run into probs with whatever you got just from it gettin old and stuff needed replaced..lol...Anyways, prolly gonna sell my car cuz i don got the money to put into a new tranny!! Ya'llz take care..L8RZ:smoka: |

Just turned 126,000 miles with my 89 and the only major problem ive had is the alternator. The clutch too, but that was original from 89

Mine i got a year ago and has done great.....just minor mech. stuff (cv joint, battery replaced, vcg's). A '93 that I picked up for 3K with 98K on it. Interior looks like new, except for the driver's outside "saddle". They
always get worn out. Just have the one your looking at checked out by a mechanic you trust if you're not one. Prolly a good idea to do engine/ tranny flush if over 100k. |

Re: do mx-6 brak down a lot when up in the miles
I bought my 93 in 1996 and it runs great. It has 150,000 miles on it now.. Of course you have to do the minor stuff like filter changes, oil changes and stuff like that. I only had to replace the Cv joint once but other than that I can't complain. They are great cars, and fast too.

Re: do mx-6 brak down a lot when up in the miles
my 4 cyl, just turned 198.0000 and, ive replaces couple things here and there, but havent touched the engine/tranny yet. ( only done timing belt replacement, and thats every 60k )
very reliable, like a horse, give it some water and little bit of food, keep it running forever, hahaha |
