Willimo joins the pro touring party.

Ok, so I was planning on holding out until I was done but the influx of others has made me want to post this really badly. I hope that posting a progress thread doesn't make me lose interest like I think has happened in the past. Anyway, I've got a bitchin' Camaro in the works. And here is the progress so far:

302 -> Banks twin turbo setup. The intake manifold will be color matched to the body, as will the engine and transmission.

Had to rework the chassis to fit the big wheels that ya'll are gonna hate.

Which, of course, means I had to redo the rear end. Leaf springs are in my rage cage anyway, so to hell with them!

Body work done. I shaved the door handles, all the "Camaro" scripts, the little trim under the door, deleted the foglamps on the front air dam, and redid some panel lines. I also modified the bumpers, not pictured.

No pics after the first coat, but this is it masked off for two tone. Simple trick - cut a very narrow strip of tape (2mm or so) and do the contour with that, and then mask the rest. Hit it with the original color, let it dry a bit, then hit it with the second color. Magic!

Don't ya'll just hate those wheels? Colors are from Cobra Colors, Silverstone Metallic (Honda S2000) and Copperhead Orange Pearl (for the Viper, I think, is also the orange on my Fit paint experiment)

Interior. I originally intended to make it modern, high tech with CF trim and all that jazz, but then decided to go more luxurious with a leather interior. The steering wheel is from a Tamiya S2000 (go figure) and the dash is modified 'cause I hated the stock instrument cluster. I smoothed it, added instrument decals from a rat rod, and trimmed the bottom edge of the dash on the passenger side for good measure. The seats from a Fujimi Evo VII because SAS seats just don't work in 1:25. No shifter because it's gonna be orange like the body. Also, I forgot armrests.

The only other thing complete and not pictured is the grill, which is gloss black. I used the healight lenses from the Lotus 7 because they had crisper and more interesting lens pattern in the glass. I will use the Lotus' chrome headlight buckets with the Camaro lenses behind the grill to make up for the deleted air-dam lamps. They are, thank goodness, the exact same size.

Finals are this week, so there won't be much to see until next week. I plan to finish it by the 19th. Comments and criticisms welcome, especially since I am pretty ignorant as far as domestics come.

Awesome build Willimo. The two-tone paint combination looks excellent. Love the engine buildup.

Re: Willimo joins the pro touring party.

Damn that’s sweet! The engine and paint looks awesome! But the wheels does not fit the rest of the car.. but that’s my opinion, and it's not my car. :P
