Question 1985 accord 1.8l carb. How can I make it faster?

Listen, Fellas I have an old '85 Accord that I trying to fix up, but its a dog. It's a carburated 5 speed, thats runs well. Can anyone help? Is there anything out there. What do I need? BIgger carb, better plugs?
Please help, I see old civics all the time hooked up. It's my turn now. It was a winter car, but now im ready to race it. I also own a killer 7 series.

Thanks,
Ant

if you got friends that can help you with labor & stuffs, then go for it...
if not, then it ain't worth it (unless you got lots of cash to throw around)

simple thing:
rebuild your engine & carburator system (clean all those gunks, new fuel, water, & oil pump, belts, check any leaks, & so on)
lighten your flywheel & new clutch
aftermarket header & exhaust cat back (check Pace Setter usually they got some stuffs for older generation cars)
aftermarket plugs, wires, coil ignition & amp or whatever

big thing (AKA expensive):
bigger carburators in 4 barrel type & fuel pump kit (like WEBER, Mikuni, Solex)
fully build engine (internals)
NOS
aftermarket cat & header
aftermarket bushings, clutch & flywheel

or...

Prelude engine (your generation... or even higher like 2L DOHC non-VTEC prelude 89 & below)

suspension stuff:
Eibach Pro Kit (yes, they do have 'em for your car)
Tokico struts
new bushing (aftermarket if possible)

& so on..

hope it helps

Weber is the best... Mikuni is japans mock-up of the weber design.

Buy the 32/36 conversion kit if you can find one.
