Pistons H22 vs. H23
I just pulled the head of my turbocharged jdm h22a (10.6:1 Comp.) engine. I have the option of installing some h23a pistons (9.8:1 comp.) which are a direct replacement but lower compression. Is the strength the same between both or are the vtec pistons stronger.

cast is cast...but you better get it honed out...you just can't take off the head, oil pan and pull the piston/rod assembly in and out

Cylinder sealing will be the problem. You can try to flex hone the bore, but if there are any real problems with scoring or serious imperfections (or possibly even out-of-round cylinders) this method will not fix them. Go here for product info.
