I need to know if a B20Z of a 2001CRV will drop into my 88SI. Has anyone done this before? I know its not a major improvement gain in HP, but I like a trouble free engine with awsome tourqe. I also need to do this because my B20A5 is retiring soon. I love this car so geting rid of is not an option. Rebuilding it would cost just about the same for the B20Z and besides I don't trust the junk yard for the B20A, I meant who know how many miles its got on it and how long it has been sitting there. Any feed backs will be greatly appreciated (good or bad) Thanks.
Concerns: -will my tranny fit on the B20Z? -wiring? -mounts -hood clearance peace, 88prelude |

Well i've never seen it done so i think it's gonna be one big project for you. As for the tranny and stuff, i dont think it will bolt up because the CRV is AWD. I would just save up the money for a H22 and do it right.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was hoping the B20Z will just drop right in without any modifications since its a B20. I don't have the money for the H22 and all the require accessories for the swap. I quess my only option would be rebuilding the original B20A5.

Many guys with Civics run the B20 block with a B16 head tacked on it (commonly known as CRVTEC). The block externally is essentially the same as the B16 and B18, unfortuantely for us, they are different to the B20As. I have heard of people thinking about putting a B18C into a 3gen, but I don't think it is possible - mainly due to the lean of the engine, I think the B16/B18 leans forwards whilst the B20A leans backwards in the engine bay. This would mean making some very custom engine mounts to either tip the engine backwards, or allow the engine to tilt forwards without having clearance issues with the hood. Honestly, I'd either save up for the H22 or I'd get a second B20A and do a build-up, possibly prepping it for boost. The B20A will never be a great naturally aspirated engine due to it's internal dimensions, but should be fine with boost. HTH Bruce |

Good suggestions and no doubt all of the above could be done. My only delima is "CASH"! I have none. H22 is probably the best choice but after calling a few places, they kinda discourage me with the over 5G price tag.
I don't like turbo's because more work in the long run. The engine won't last as long as I like it to be. Swaping pistons and etc.. sounds too complicated. I don't think I have the capability to tackle such task. I will go to the junk yard and check out a B20B/Z this weekend. I want to see if my tranny will bolt up to it. I hope it will |

I dont know about the 3rd gen lude but Place Racing makes mount kits for the 3rd gen Accord that allows the fit of any B series engine. can try asking them.
