Message center

I was wondering if anyone out there knows if you can install a message center that sits in the center console into an explorer that did not have one originally, I have a 96 explorer xlt, and I have a message center for a 97 explorer I dont know if it belonged to the limited or not. Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

TO install a message cebter, you will probably need to install the wiring harness for the message center, the wiring in my 1997 ford did not include the connectors for the message center. I did acquire a 1999 message center with the connectors, which I used to wire the unit up to my vehicle. It was a little involved, and the oil temp/level sensor is not installed (since this requires some changeouts on the oil pan and the purchase of a $175.00 sensor from Ford), but the unit does function. However, despite my success, I am not sure if I have a bad unit or if the 99 unit is different from a 97. Also the sensors are getting a signal, but it seems the speed sensor circuit on mine is not registering correctly on the message center, thus, my MPG and Miles traveled is not functioning. However, it is correctly reporting fuel level and fuel used, temp, voltage, and even the washer fluid sensor is working (also, the washer fluid portion requires purchase of a washer fluid tank with the sensor built in).

If interested, I might purchase your message center if you want to sell. Please let me know.
