Turbo parts for SBC?
Hey does anybody know where one can get the parts required to build a twin turbo setup for a 350 chevy? Also would turbo be a good idea in a street racing application. I'm using a datsun 240 Z and I want big power but I'm trying to avoid ridiculous low end toque levels so I can still get a decent launch with a manual. Any ideas would help huge thanks

Re: Turbo parts for SBC?
it's not a bad idea at all...
you can go cheap and flip the factory manifolds, or you could get some made... single or twins? what size... |

Yeah, good luck trying to fit in a Turbocharged V8 into a Datsun. The exhaust manifolds hug the inside of the fenders. You'll be hard pressed to get any type of turbo mounted in that engine bay.
You're trying to get traction in a Z with a V8? Unless you're running some seriously sticky rubber you'll have one hell of a time hooking up. Especially if the V8 is even mildly breathed on with performance parts. If you want to really keep traction, grab a L28E-T. Incase you don't know that's the 280zx-t engine (2.8L Inline 6 Turbo). That swap alone will give you enough torque and top end pull to run low 13s basically stock, Plus it's EFI... makes for easy startups in the morning and of course overall better performance. Motorsport Auto has a large selection of aftermarket parts for all the Z motors.

Yeah i know the V8 is already a lot for the car but I want to pull something that is straight out crazy. I figured I could basically copy the nelson racing engine (TT 750 HP) and have something nuts. Maybee the car's too light for it though, I dunno. Anyways, redneck, you got any other ideas then for making something insanely fast? I'm trying to basically build something of supercar quality to compete in Targa newfoundland 2007. (yes I know there are many less than crazy cars in that course lol)

Well, use anything you can get your hands on... that's lightweight and you can stuff a monster power plant into.
With that criteria... your options are nearly unlimited.
