2001 Century Cruise Control
2001 Century 17,000 miles Cruise control does not engage. Switch on stalk is in the on position cruise does not engages when "set" button is pressed. Also, the light on the instrument panel does not come on to say that it is engaged. Checked fuse in fuse box OK Disconnected the electircal connector at the cruise unit under the hood and reconnected it. No help. Any suggestions?

Has it ever worked?
I had a 91 lumina with a ton of miles and I wore out the cuise button. Pretty easy to replace. |

If it has only 17000 miles is it still under mfgr. warranty? I'd call your friendly dealer and find out. If not, get a wiring diagram and test out the engage switch function with a voltmeter or test light. It shouldn't be worn out yet, but you never know. I think the Chilton's repair manuals have wiring diagrams for that area. check for proper voltag and see if you see changes in the voltage when the switch is activated. Also you might check the switch on the brake pedal that disaengages the cruise control. If its stuck that wouldn't let it engage.
