Question intermittant wipers

I have searched the web over for this information but have failed to come up with anything. Currently, my wipers only work in the 2 fastest settings. I can no longer use the delayed or intermittent wipers. I would assume there is a relay someplace and would like to know if this could be the problem. If so, how do I replace it? Any information or websites I can use would be extremely helpful.

Re: intermittant wipers

I was told that the wiper motors on jeeps are the usually just about an anual thing to replace, i have a 95 GCL and my wiper motor has done the same thing as u are saying. it is big pain to have to keep replacing it. now i did talk to a guy from jeepers "off road group" and he said that there is a relay but the relay controls over half of the jeep's equipment, back wiper, indicator lights, and a few engine componets also, so it is cheaper to buy the motor. the motor is what causes the relay to go and when u change the motor it works fine.

sorry if this dosen't help but the i have had this problem for a couple years now.

Re: intermittant wipers

I had the same problem. It has nothing to do with the motor but the delay circuit called the intermittent wiper control module.

You can either get it changed, or try to repair it yourself if you know a bit of soldering.

The module is located to the left of the pedals (black box about 4" long). If you pry it open and take out the circuit board you will see a small bit of circuit that is burnt. Just solder a jumper over it and it will be back in action again.

Good Luck!
