1/4 mile

I was just recently at the track, I got 15.3 for my 1/4 mile. I put the smack down on a 5.0 mustang. He was pissed. lol

Wow, 15.3 for a 2 ton boat

So, how did you do it? Traction control off? no spare? nearly empty tank? power brake the tranny? Did you take him on the launch or at the end? Manual shift to redline? What was the temps at the track? What year stang ? Good (you) versus bad driver(stang)?

Re: 1/4 mile

Incredible times!

I take it you have Autobahn? I would do it in 2nd gear, TC off, perform shift on to delay that shift point, lift out the back seat bottoms, 1/4 tank gas, nothing in the trunk, ECC off.

Either way...gotta time slip? What was yer RT?

Re: 1/4 mile

In my "96" if you put it in 1st gear and just leave it there it will tach out and shift on its own and it will even chirp the tires shifting gears. Just remember ...it will shift back down on its own too at high rpms as you slow down.
I believe the 5.0 is rated 260hp stock, depending on the year. The Stang automatics suck ..my buddy has a "99" convertable auto and its not really all that quick. He wants me to buy it But I have my Rora why would I want that lol

Re: 1/4 mile

I have Autotapped my 96 a while ago, to find out some numbers and to determine KR when shifting from second to 3rd (when in 2nd gear). And I experienced the same chirping of the tires at 5900 RPM.

If I even do a "1/4" mile run in my car, I would do it in 2nd.

Re: 1/4 mile

Well I think having it in 2nd disables the torque managment, but does it force 1st gear to tach out?

Re: 1/4 mile

well I had a great start, i had less than a 1/4 tank of gas, the temp was at like 65, cuase idling in traffic lol just heats that engine up, i didn't power brake the tranny, I had all kinds of trash and junk in the back lol, i had everything I owned, when I came to the track i even had my bike rack with a bike on it, but I took the bike off and put the rack in my trunk, it was weighed down with prob like 500 more lbs lol. I shifted gears, the mustang was a like 92 or something of that body style. I've beaten them before, and yes it said 5.0 on it and sounded like a 302. oh yeah I had him from the start. what really suprised me was that a caddy sts ran a 14.8 but I guess it does have more hp than me. i think this week Im going to empty the car and try to run faster. I wonder what racing fuel would do? I think I'll try that

Watch the racing fuel, make sure its unleaded if you still have your cats.

Based on what you wrote, you were the better driver!
