Self installing amp, any tips/tricks???
Went to Best Buy today, and got an 8 guage amp power installation kit, and a high to low line converter I'll need to hook my amp to my factory radio. Tomorrow (friday) I'm gonna attempt to install it myself. I'm good with wiring things (electronics and stuff) so that part of it shouldn't be a problem. Any tips or tricks I might need to know, or anyone would like to share with me, before I delve into the installation, tomorrow? Also, instead of hooking the remote amp "turn-on" to the radio, or antenna (since mine isn't a power one), is it okay to hook that wire up to say my ignition? So that way, the amp won't be able to turn on unless my ignition is on, lessening the chance of draining my battery. Thanks.

instead of wiring it to the ignition, you can go to autozone or any car part store and get yourself a nice set of fuse blades. they connect the remote-wire to the fuse box which makes it easier to install. its fairly easy to install. its self explanitory
connect the fuse into either the accesory or the radio fuse so that way everytime you turn on your headunit, the amp turns on. if you need further help. i'll be here to help. hopefully i can take a picture of the fuse box to give you an idea. oh yea..i got my fuse blades from autozone. they come in sets of 4 (at least thats what they gave me ) and only costed me $1.49

That's a good idea, the radio would be my first choice of where to hook that wire to, but wouldn't I just wore it to the existing fuse for the radio?

What I meant was, you mention about getting a fuse and wiring that to an "acc." space on the fuse box, right? But couldn't I just wire it to the existing radio fuse that's there? BTW, do you remember off hand, what color the MAIN radio wire on a 6th gen. Civic is?

In my car, that is a red/blk wire. There is also a yellow/red wire which goes to th under-dash fuse/relay box.
