Re: 99 Pont. Gr. Am cigerette lighter doesn't work
You Should Check The Fuse First. I am not sure of the location (I think Drivers side On the dash near the door jam area, not sure) You can look in you Owners Manual.

Re: 99 Pont. Gr. Am cigerette lighter doesn't work
the fuse is on the passenger side i think , but the problem is most likely the elements inside the lighter get pushed into each other and make a connection and will keep blowing the fuse. Once you replace the fuse , plug your cell in and leave it in , cus if you unplug it and plug it back in it will just bend and twist the elements too short out over and over. I had same problem , now i just keep my map light pluged in and it stays in so it dont bend them elements. DO NOT TRY TO FIX THE ELEMENTS BY HAND UNLESS YOU DISCONNECT IT FROM THE POWER SOURCE FIRST , a guy i know blew the pads off his feet doin that without disconnecting the power. He coulda died.

Grand AM cig lighter
Dude,
The fuse for the cigerette lighter is in the engine compartment. On the drivers side, near the top of the engine, you'll find a black box labled fuse relay, the diagram attached to the inside of the cover will show you the location of the blown fuse. |

Re: 99 Pont. Gr. Am cigerette lighter doesn't work
Whichever of the 3 fuse boxes the lil fuse is in wasnt the point i was making , the point is that something caused it to blow the fuse and im saying to look for that. Most common problem i seen was what i stated above a month ago.

Ecellent point markgase2000,
An attempt to find the assignable cause should be done first. I think in my case it could have been the cell phone charger I was using or maybe even the new stereo I had installed, I replaced the fuse about 8 months ago and it's still working. |
