Go with the more expensive well known name brand. Don't be cheap or your ride quality/performance will suffer greatly.

car will ride LIKE CRAP like a rock wheeled car or skate board. The cheaper kits are crap usually a universal spring cut the size that fits to the collar on the kit and never tested for load resistance.

A very good brand to buy, is Skunk2, or Ground Control. Probably some of the best. Unless of course you go with a true coilover design, which has a coil mated to a shock.

ok, i have not see this name on ebay. but don't you think the better they are is the more turn coils they have ? (hard to explain for me).
i would say cheapest (and maybe the worse ) have only 6 equal turn, and surely will be too hard...
on the best kit, coils have 10/15 turn and are not equals
what do you think about this ?

you can have a look at this coilover on ebay, and recommand one to me

thx,
Christophe

don't forget you must upgrade the shocks when doing any lowering. The quality comes in the parts not how many turns or how much adjustment there is.

Re: E-Bay COILOVER SPRINGS kit choice ?

Yeah , the tokico illumina + spring package looks good.

Here is my recommendation:

Good (Tein BASIC):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33586

with this you can adjust the height of the car to whatever you want.... the struts are quality but cannot be adjusted..

Better (Tein SS):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33582

with this you can adjust the height of the car to whatever you want... the struts can also be adjusted to the stiffness that you would like.... i use this set up on my car and love it...

If you don't want to get the packaged coil over set... and you still want to adjust height.. then you will need either Ground Control or Skunk2 coil-overs (the eBay junk will not do the job it is generally all crap) , like the man said... But you will need new struts to go with them.. so you might as well buy a matched set like the Tein's...

another option is to use Koni struts with adjustable spring perches... I think that the yellow's are available like this.. perhaps from Neuspeed... this would basically be the same as getting a coil over system that didn't include a spring....

you could also just use regular drop springs... keep in mind that the "race" ones that drop your car 2+" are gonna be a bit stiff riding... so if you dont like that.. you might want something like H&R OE Sports, Neuspeed SofSports...etc.. they won't look as cool tho .. Some good brands of springs are H&R, Eibach/Neuspeed, Tein, RS-R, kg/mm (JDM), and probably quite a few more....

as for struts to go with drop springs... Bilstein... KYB AGX... Tokico Ilumina.... Koni.... those are all good...

I'm looking for lowering springs also...

Do these suck?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2450644307

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2449406444

If so, does this mean I'm gonna have to spend $400 at least to lower my car and have a half decent ride?

Re: Re: E-Bay COILOVER SPRINGS kit choice ?

Eibach pro-kit is good, i'm not fond of the sportlines. I'd say expect to spend $500 minimum(parts only) for lowering a car properly not going the ebay route. To properly lower you will need: spings/adjustable coilovers, upgraded shocks/struts, possible install labor, alignment, & possibly a camber kit.

H&R - $150
Tokico Blues - $320
Not including tax or shipping/handling // install + alignment

Do your research other places than ebay, once you find a quality piece then search ebay for *NEW* product. For instance this website carries almost all quality parts - http://www.modacar.com/products/Honda/Civic/MODASUP/ http://www.modacar.com/products/Honda/Civic/MODACOI/

The first question to ask yourself, do I really need adjustable ride height? If so it's gonna cost MORE to do it right than normal lowering spring. Ground Controls w/ Eibach springs & Koni yellows is about the best adjustable coilover sleeve set-up & Tein basic for the best true coilover kit. To get the most out of adjsutable coilovers you will need the knowlegde to set it properly & camber kit with an alignment EVERY time the ride height is changed.

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again, price highly reflects quality when it comes to suspension. Anybody can copy parts, only some can do the R&D to back it up & thats what cost money.

For a basic understanding of the civic's aftermarket, including suspension basics I suggest reading a book called Civic Duty. If you are serious about suspension I would also suggest reading a book called How to Make Your Car Handle.

Re: E-Bay COILOVER SPRINGS kit choice ?

yo jackassi, I noticed many people refer to you as the "suspension expert" so a quick ? if I got someadjustable shocks and left the stock springs would it be possible to change ride height or would it just change ride quality? thanks
