Angry Engine overheat

Well, I wrote yesterday, and for anyone who wants to know one of the official ways to get the "low coolant light" off after they have drained all of the coolant from their radiator is to tap the side of the coolant tank with a screwdriver, I called a Chevy dealer, and he said that the sensor in the tank will often stick to the bottom once the fluid is drained, and so in order to release it, you have to tap along side it, I had to do it quite a few times, and even lightly shook the tank and it worked. My only problem now is that this is the first time we've actually tried to drive it for an extended period of time, and it's closer to the red than it was before we changed the thermostat and drained and refilled the system. What could be causing this???? The fan comes on when it gets on the "5" on the 125(middle) of the temp gage, so what is going on now?? Please help, as I greatly appreciate any info someone can give-Thanks.

Re: Engine overheat

sounds like a clogged core or falty thermostate. I know you said you replaced it but did you replace it before or after you flushed the car. if before you could have unknowingly clogged it when you flushed the car and same goes for the core. You might have sturred up crud in the core which has now cloged the core. did you just drain and refill? or do a compleat flush? if you just drained and refilled i would suggest that you do it all over again and get a prestone flush kit to fully clean your collant system.

Re: Engine overheat

I already found the mistake in my vw. A few weeks ago i replaced a tube from the radiator circuit. In that operation i replaced and cleaned the radiator... and i made i mistake, i didnt "bleed" the radiator well, so it gained air... and air prevents the coolant to get into touch with the termostat, so the 1st fan velocity didnt worked... i looked in the net and come with a solution, i already did it and now its working well.

1 - warm the car to the middle temperature without the cap that covers the coolant resovoir.
2 - And now the trick... turn on the heat on the car to maximum... the coolant will run through the tubes to warm the air to warm the veihucle interior, and you will see bubles in the resovoir... after a few minutes until it stops give some gas to the car... just a little to bring the air up. turn off the car.
3 - with a key, unscrew the termostat until it comes a little water, as soon you see water, screw it again. cover with the cap the resovoir and try it out.

For me did work, try to find in google.com HOW TO CLEAN CAR RADIATOR

I just hope i dont have a leek in somewhere else, because if i have the air will enter again and bring back the problem. tomorrow i will try it again to see if it is ok.

Try this and give me your result to [email protected]

Hasta la bista.... and pass this solution to others............................
