Question oxygen sensor

I just purchased a 86-87 (VIN says 87, engine is 86) s-10 blazer. I had the transmission rebuilt (4x4, auto, 2.8) and it is running fine, my question is why is it so hard on gas? Someone mentioned that it may be the oxygen sensor . Could any one tell me? And if it could be that, where is it? Thanks in advance.

I would think a 2.8 would get worse gas mileage then the 4.3 in the blazer flavor and also a 4x4.

It's supposed to throw a code when the voltage is not correct, but ODb1 systems are notorious for not throwing codes on out of spec O2 sensors.

The O2 sensor is threaded into your exhaust system.
Being ODB1, you only have one O2 sensor and it's screwed into the piping BEFORE the cat.

You have the non-heated type so it will only cost to $20-$30.
