E-Tec Engine Question

I would like to know if the E-Tec engine used in the Lanos and the new GM Aveo was proprietary to Daewoo, or if it is an adaption of an engine found in another make range.

I know that a Lanos front suspension is quite similar to the 1990-1993 Lemans, which was an 80s vintage Opel Kadett/Vauxhall Astra.

I was wondering if the same could be said of this E-Tec engine.

Thanks!

BTW, I really dug the Aveo when I went to see it... Hope it does well in N-A...
