How to drift

Step 1.
Get a silvia, or 240 because they were "Made to drift".
yes it's true, the company big wigs all got together and decided to make a drift car becasue it's the best way to race. period.
Step 2.
get a realy big turbo and wastegate and NO OTHER MODS. except for maybe some stickers and a wing you got from a crashed 747.
Step 3.
Watch lots of video of professional japanese race car drivers on professional race car tracks making professionally tuned cars go sideways and then do your best uneducated, non-professional attempts to duplicate these feats.
Step 4.
call it a sport and defend it's superiority to the death. Regardless of any and all facts that may be presented to the contrary, you of course, know that drifting is the best way to drive ever invented ever.
Step 5.
Spend all your time building a suspension that will help you get sideways and practice doing that because building a stiff suspension that hold the road and practicing proper apex and breakeing techniques is for retards.
Step 6.
Flame me for having a different opinion.

the only person that's flaming is you. here, and in the drag racing forum as well.

you don't like either "sport", and you come in and make fun of people for doing something they like, drifting, or drag racing.

then you come here, and claim that we're going to flame you.

you'll never find anyone here claiming that drifting is the "best way around a track". we all know the difference between drift driving, and grip driving.

In case you haven't realized I am just being argumentative for the sake of it.
I actually do enjoy drag racing and watching ( but not doing) drifting.
I just find it amusing when people (not you) think that drifting is MAD TIGHT DAWG!!
these are the people I am making fun of, not the people who realize drifting is what it is and enjoy it for that.
Besides, I didn't write steps 1-5, a friend of mine did in another forum, I though it was funny, and re posted it here.

honestly, to be a truly good driver, one should be capable of either - following the line AND hanging the ass out. A driver who can do both has excellent vehicle control. Now, find a driver that can hold a high speed drift on the line and you will see a truly awesome driver with tremendous exit speed, but these drivers are very, very, VERRRRRRY rare.

It's funny how kids think drifting is so easy. It's hard to keep a normal car in control, it's harder to control it while it's sliding. God, I went from loving drifting 2 years ago to hating it since so many people wanna be involved in it.

it gets so popular because these rich people decide to slide their bmw's around and call it drifting... so everyone who knows them decides to become an expert on drifting and it grows in popularity... i dont really know of any other driving styles that are still relatively unknown...

actually i cant wait until BMW's go to events and compete, or mustangs, camaros and corvettes.... it makes it more exciting... the REAL skilled drivers will always come on top though, no reason to be scared or to hate the sport.

while this thread is spot-on and i agree that there are too many kids these days who think that the second they climb into a RWD car, they can go out and be the next Fumiaki Komatsu and only get into drifting because of what others will think of them...it still needs to go

just because of these few people, you do not need to reflect this opinion on ALL fans of drift. while i just got my 240SX tonight (after having one before and searching for another one for over a year), i know for a fact that i am not a good drifter. at all. it will take tons and tons of practise before i even consider myself to be decent. and i'm not a fan of drifting because of what others will think of me. oooh no. i do it for me. i do it because i like it and because i will have fun and be happy, not because of what some two-bit ricer will think of me.

so with that said, thread closed.
