Cummins doesn't make a 5.9...

Cummins is a diesel and you can't get a diesel in the Dakota... the 5.9 is the Dodge 360.

good lil motor.

oh yes, the link doesn't work.

Re: C5 Vs Dakota

I don't know where you found that vid, but I found it also on a Corvette site, and it has a Cummins inline 6 diesel, with 750HP and 1300ft-lbs of TQ, by way of 15:1 compression, and and single turbo...as you can hear as the truck whooshes by.

Hate to correct you man, but yes they do...and that's what this truck started with.

5.9-liter inline-6, Cummins diesel: http://www.bankspower.com/im_moparnow_spring03.cfm

Maybe you were thinking V8's?

Cool vid.

Where's the typical black smoke coming from the exhaust of a diesel? hehehhe.

They don't offer a Cummins turbo diesel in the Durango. Biggest motor you can get from the factory is the 5.9L Magnum V8.

Obviously a custom install.

Re: C5 Vs Dakota

redneck...
do you know who banks is?
one of the biggest diesel aftermarket companies in the world.
the dakota sidewinder has, as you noted, a custom installed 5.9 cummins motor making 800ish hp, 1300 tq.
it's the fastest diesel truck in the word. 220mph. and it drove to bonneville.
and it runs 11's.
it's got a full cage, full custom interior (race style, not show style), a quick change rear axle, and tons of power.

check out their site for more on it...

Re: C5 Vs Dakota

With all that power I would have thought it would run a little faster. Not that 11s are slow just that those are big numbers. Whats the Dakotas weight?

Re: C5 Vs Dakota

it's high 3000's easy...
remember, it's not a 1/4 mile racer, it's a top speed mobile...
it depends on which rear gears they had in. 11's is quick though...
you'd expect quicker, but you've got to take into account that you've only got 1/4 mile to accelerate in, the aero issues of a truck, etc... there's some issues there...

if you ever saw that video with the 11 second f350, i'm sure it was pushing similar power, but not geared for top end...

there's more to it than just having 700hp...
