03 Si vs Accord 6 spd

I just got a silver 03 Si. I was wondering, in a race between a 03 Si and an Accord 6 spd, who would win (my friend wants to race me and im curious if i should bother). Also, how do you launch properly in a race with this civic?
Finally, what are your thoughts on the new Si and what types of mods would benefit me the most?

weight

how much does weight matter. how much does the accord weigh in on? vs your civic. I am curious too. I mean what makes it so sure that the accord can jump ahead?

thanks

So basically almost all civics out of the box blow cock in the world of the high rollers. That said, how can i beat him? I'm 100% all the standard I/H/E shit won't get me more than 10 hp at most so that can't be it. What say you?

Re: 03 Si vs Accord 6 spd

i personally dont like the new si's or the new accords, sure the motors are good but the styling is way off IMO. the accords rear end is just weird looking and your si looks like a mini me mini van. but yes the accord will spank u, hes got 80 more hp, u would need some sort of f/i to beat him, nitrous it might be close, however with a turbo u could do it, it might take some cash but it can be done, but he is got a better car stock vs. stock

ok so the truth in the matter is... if both are stock wit hthe same driver, the accord will win. 1/4 for the accord is 15.61 seconds and the civic is 15.84 seconds. It's not much, but a sure car length. Your 0-30 is deffinitely faster so you'll inch ahead at the line, but from then on you'll be looking at his ass the whole time.

(just a side note, my good old 93Si beats the 2003 off the line)

Well Ill say something more realistic. The accord will win if its a 6 speed or a 5 speed automatic. He will not radically spank you, but he will beat you. Saying the "If he knows how to drive stick", well everytime i hear that i find it stupid, its no hard driving stick, besides if he has a manual he will know how to drive. Whats hard about driving stick, its just the launch, shifting fast, at the redline everybody can do it. Launching depends on your engine, torque etc, to not create too much wheel spin. Id say an 03 si should launch in the 4000 rev range. 5600 revs works best for my 99 SiR, that is cause I have a 1.6 litre.

Race him, if he wins who gives a f***.
With Forced Introduction, an accord v6 is not even a rival, so for that person that says you have a chance with F1, youll kill him with f1. the k20a1 with a properly installed turbo is pulling more than 300 hp at the crank, around 250-60 whp. Thats an entire different story, its not asi if accord v6 are bullets. Ive raced a 4 door, 5 speed automatic v6 with my SiR 99, which is a little faster than the 03 and I won all the way to 70 mph, and then he slowly beat me, so its not a really fast car.

Peace.

Doesn't weight of the cars matter? From what I've been told (not sure how true this is), but if a car is 1000lbs heavier, they need an extra 100HP in order to make it even. This could be way off, so don't shoot the messenger.

But, if this theory is correct, then....

2003 Honda Accord EX V-6 2dr Coupe (3.0L 6cyl 6M)
- Curb Weight: 3265 lbs + Horsepower: 240 hp

2003 Honda Civic Si 2dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)
- Curb Weight: 2744 lbs. + Horsepower: 160 hp

If my theory is correct, then the Accord has 521 more lbs, meaning, that the Accord needs 52.1 HP more than the Civic, and it does.

How correct is my theory?

another thing to take into consideration is that the accord has a 6 speed manual. transmission has a lot to do with how fast the car accelerates or pulls. manual is always quicker than auto so the auto accord is going to be slower vs. a manual one and the more gears the car has the faster it will accelerate. just something to think about.

6 speed would allow him to optimize the launch right? Well this guy like to run it high in first for some reason. Personally i throw first to 4k and i go second till about 40 mph and 3rd i run up to god knows where. He likes 1st and 2nd more and he tends to shift 2nd to 4th because he did that on his old civic but i figure with a 6 speed the optimized ratio will be such that a shift from 2nd to 4th will not be as big a change as it was previously and be detrimental.

Well a six speed transmission car will see its best pulls in second and third, at least when I drove one thats what I felt, so if he shifts from second to fourth, stupid. And remember you dont have to hit redline to throw it, not all cars reach peak power at redline some reach peak power at 6500rpm when redline is 7300rpm. You need to find where your car peaks at and than make your throws for maximum times and speed. And yes anyone who originally drives a stick can race, its easier than daily driving a stick. For me driving a stick is like second nature, dont even have to think about it to make perfect shifts.
