Speed cost money, how fast do you want to go?
Advancing the timing is about the only free "mod"

There are many things you could do yourself if you have the skill. Like porting/polishing intake manifold, throttle body, & head. Dont try it for the 1st time on your own daily driver, chances are you'll be buying a new head.

Aftermarket exhaust & header wont really do much for performance on a stock engine, 5-7HP.

before you adjust your timing I suggest marking your distributor before just in case you goof some how. Your next question . . . How do I mark the dizzy? Easy way - use a scratch awl & scribe a line from dizzy to cylinder head(top adjusting bolt) or clean area then use a black permanent marker & do the same thing, except sniff the marker a few times

Also marking is a good idea before removing the dizzy so you dont have time after intalling. Just match up the lines.

the dist. is about the only "free" mod there is. Everything else costs money...

Another free mod I can think of is adjusting the throttle cable, so that you have a higher idle rev. Won't add any hp gains, but at least you'll jump quicker off the line.

Why not just rev the engine more before taking off?

normally the throttle isn't 100% tight, there is some free play. You can tighten the cable for better throttle control. If your gonna adjust the idle, the throttle cable is the wrong way. Besides a goofed, idle your engine will rev higher @ idle while in motion - then after you stop it will drop slightly.

Free mod: remove your air filter & housing, just leave the tubing. Is that good for the engine? NO - no air filter. Shit if your that ghetto you could always put a towel over then end. Use duct tape or rubber bands to hold it on

Distributors aint free 90CRXZCSi, well they can be if ya gank it

Basically the only way you can mess the idle rev is you adjust the cable too tight, preventing cable play, which would result in your car revving high all the time. http://www.hondaclub.com.ph/archive/...id=109;start=0 on our discussion about throttle cable adjustment.

About adjusting the distributor housing--I've adjusted it a few times before getting the satisfactory adjustment for me. So that means moving it a few times. Would that somehow affect the timing? I mean, I've adjusted it to advanced timing, but before that put it into the maximum extent of the housing's movement before readjusting it to a better position, though the adjustment is still in the advanced position?
