Best performance options for 2000 Accord?
Hey all, I am on the verge of buying a 2000 Accord Coupe V6 with 57000 Highway miles for $13,500. I was looking to do some things to boost performance and gas mileage. Has anyone install the K&N air intake systems on the Honda V6 engines and have they enhanced performance and Gas mileage like they say they do?
Also what is the best oil to use on these engines? Should I go synthetic or Stick to a higher grade standard oil??? What are the best plugs to use on these engines? I read a reference to the Platinum tips, but not sure if those would be the best for performance? Hope you all can help me out as this will be my first import car I will have owned, have pretty much been a Pontiac man before... But from what I hear on the performance and longevity of these cars I guess I can't go wrong for $13,500.... Thanx in Advance Buda |

most popular intake on AV6 is AEM CAI, i does increase performance and MPG, but MPG increase is very noticable. Also what is the best oil to use on these engines? Should I go synthetic or Stick to a higher grade standard oil???? you can use any oil as long as it 5W-30 or 5W-20. as far of Synthetic or Standard oil, its up to you. if you want to use Standard, Castrol GTX is best one. if you want to use Synthetic, AMSOIL is best, but most expensive and not avalable in every autostore. a lot of people use Mobil 1 What are the best plugs to use on these engines? I read a reference to the Platinum tips, but not sure if those would be the best for performance? as performance plutinum spark plugs are the worst ones. manufacturer put them in to claim "100,000ml between tune-up". regular copper plugs will give better throttle responce and MPG. Denso Iridium IK16 is best plugs. there are a lot aftermarket stuff avalable for AV6 these days, i cann't even count how many. if you intersted to find out, go to v6p.net

AEM makes a good intake but i would go with everything Comptech, straight from the dealer. You can get I/H/E there. Best plugs to use is what honda puts in there which is NGK IMO. IMO, i would run mobil 1, and you can run 10W-30 in there, although 5W-30 might work.
