saturn vs. my hatch

well I just got home from a highway race on the way back from work. I just having got done with a 12 hour shift was kinda beat and just wanting to go home. To get on the highway(81North) there is a hairpin turn which merges on. Well on my way to this turn this saturn is on my ass! Im looking in my rear view mirror and can barely see his damn headlights hes so damn close. well I approach this U-turn in 2nd gear and then i floor it. This bastard is way back(like 15 car lengths, wild guess) by 4th gear (this stretch that merges on the highway is like 1/2 mile long). So I figure this guy learned his leason or something....no. I slow down to like 70MPH because there is a speedtrap area and he comes up goes by me not too fast but just to make the point where hes in front of me. So I trail with him not trying to fly by him because at this point there was some traffic and some turns that may spell disaster. There is a straight away after all of these turns and I go past him just to let him know im not messing around. Then we come to a fork in the highway which goes east or west(route 17). Im going east and this bastard gets on my ass just like before except were going ~70mph...this really pissed me off especially on this turn, at this speed. I let him go by me...I was really scared after that. I still trailed him till we got to a very nice long stretch of road...I floored it 4th gear. I caught up to him slower then before ( he was probably flooring it as well being it was a long stretch) then passed him. I didnt shift to 5th gear till I was 115mph( i dont have a tach, damnit). Still flooring it in 5th...I could no longer tell which car was his by the headlights of the other cars...end of race, I take my exit off 17 head towards home. Im not sure what model saturn it was but it was red, had the newer stlye headlights though. My car is a 92 Honda Civic CX /w a JDM B16A-stock exhaust, and cheap intake...thats it performance wise. Oh well just thought Id let you know.

I wasn't really going "all-out" during times with heavy traffic that night. Only when it was clear I moved up on him. No doubt racing in a lot of traffic is stupid. My thoughts on what I did that night were overall dumb. I should've stopped when I left him in the dust merging on 81 but I kept it going by passing him later on,etc. It can be hard to know when to stop. Oh well.

A little late but that's funny.

Anyway, I have a dx cluster and I have a heads up display tach that shines on your front window. It's different and it's digital so you can really tell what your engine idols at, not just guessing it. It also has a mph gauge and a MAX speed measure. They come in two different colors from Summit. It has little shift lights that light up when "you program" what speed you should be doing at certain MPH ranges. (I hate BIG tachs with that bright ass light!!)

Where the hell did you get that? That sounds pretty cool... I have a huge tach with a big blue spotlight that blinds me at night when I redline. Is it bright even during the day?

I got it from the Summit Racing catalog. It comes with some metallic tint that is put on your front windshield so during the day you can still see it. It has brightness levels (3) so that at night it won't be so bright and during the day you can have it on the brightest level and still see it. People always think it's a pager in my window but it's my tach. This is a pic of it if I did this attachment right.

Well I did it right but this was before I did some interior modifications and you can't see the tint cause I ripped it off before taking this pic casue it was peeling. I got it professionally steamed on there from some tint people and it's been on ever since. I don't have a recent pic due to me dropping my digital camera at Nopi Nationals but I will soon have some recent pics.

Im interested in that heads up display as well, is there any chance you have a part number for it? I can't seem to find it on the summit racing site.

It sounds sweeeeeeet.

eh, looks pretty tacky to me... maybe if you could hide it somehow or blend it flush with the dashboard to shine up on the windshield it would be nice. You should at least run the wiring up through the vent. How much was it?
