replacing pads and rotors
I just recently bought Brembo rotors and AEM pads and i think that they are supposed to arrive today. This will be tomorrow's project and i assume it's pretty self explanatory. Basically replace that with this, and that with this, etc. Is there anything i should know before i go messing with it? I was looking for some sites that have a How-To but i couldn't come across anything, but then again i'm not looking that hard due to the fact that i'm at work. Anyone got any pointers?

The rotor hat screws.... There's 2 per rotor. They are quite hard to unscrew off. I had to buy something from Sears called an "impact driver" which is a screwdriver thing that you hit the back of with a hammer, and it transfers the energy it to rotational energy to unscrew right tightly stuck screws. If you can't get it with a large phillips driver after a couple trys, get one of those tools ($25 they are) as you'll strip out the screw head otherwise. Almost happened to me when I replaced my rotors/pads.
Also DON'T remove any bolts that hold the brake lines in place, that's pretty self explanitory. Umm, there's a bolt on the lower part of the caliper (can't remember of it's the front or the back of it) that when taken off it, allows the outer shell of the caliper to swing up. This is how you can change pads without taking it off. There's 2 other larger bolts on the back side of the each caliper that actually hold it in place, take those off and then you can set the caliper aside, get a sizeable box to lay them on while you work since you can't move them too far because of the brake line. That's about all I can think of that you'll need to know. OH, when you have the caliper off, DON'T touch the piston with anything, not even your fingers. It's highly sensative to stuff I guess. Also, before you change the rotors, put 2 lug nut back on the hubs to hold the rotor on till when you want to take them off. This will help things greatly as the rotors won't just stay on themselves. Once the hat screws are in place, then you won't need the lugs to hold them on.
