Re: Best Exhaust System

personal prefference i guess...

Apexi N1 3" Cat Back is probably the most common. Its a great system cus i have it!

Borlas are also another great choice and Apr's arn't bad.

I would have to say Apex system from turbo back. But it is pricy. My friend got an apex dp, i think, and then had monroe make a custom 2.5 cat back. i don't think it flows as well as the apex exhaust but it only cost him 150 for the whole cat back

To say "best exhaust" itself is absurd. And to reply with a specific brand is equally absurd. What is the car used for. What are the goals for it. What is the budget. Etc.

Re: Best Exhaust System

if GSXracer isn't posting some ingenious essay about dsm's hes telling us that our post arn't specific enough...but hes right...we need some more specifics like the ones listed in his post to give u a more accurate response to your question.

what are your goals with the car?
What will it be used for?
What are u looking for in the exhaust?
Whats your budget?
stuff around those lines.

Re: Re: Best Exhaust System

3", no matter what it is. 3" down pipe as well. apexi, greddy, thermal, road race engineering [.com] all make them. you can also get, say, an apexi n-1 muffler and custom build you own 3" pipes. try a search on "exaust" in this forum for a wealth of info, god knows there is a couple of threads a week on this...

off topic but does anyone have a 4.0 or 4.5 inch exhaust system?

The exhaust is not for racing, the money isn't a problem, I'm just asking what is the best exhaust for street use. Maybe a "good" exhaust system sounds better than "best"

Now we are getting somewhere

In that case I would suggest 3" in stainless steel for long life and you wont outgrow it. For sound, that is up to you. The tough part is hearing what more than a few exhausts sound like so you can make a solid decision. If you have a local DSM club, that is the best bet. Otherwise you'll have to look for videos, and take the word of people that make recomendations. At least now the recomendations will be tailored to your situation with any luck

BR does offer a 3.5" exhaust, but there is no way you can run that on the street. And this is coming from someone with a homeade (read: LOUD) 3", externally dumped external, "race only" turbo, etc. I dont say this often in other words. 3" is the largest you could get away with on teh street, and you will be harassed frequently by the cops I can assure you

Good luck in your search.

I am running an apex N1. It sounds amazing, and for performance nothing beats it. But excitingleopard is right... it doesn't stay within the 95 db to be legal. So if you have anal cops in your area, go with the greddy evo 2
