The most knowledgeable eclipse experts only please help me
Ok, I've read through these forums enough to know that several of you are going to just tell me to get a GST or a GSX. However, I'm going to work with what I have. I know it's not all that much. However, I love my car.
I have a 95 Eclipse RS. I've put an AEM Cold Air intake, an Apexi Muffler and a R1 racing Cat back system and a Della performance chip in my car. I've also put some outside Mods like konig rims and a turbo spolier but these mods are somewhat irrelevent to my question/s. Here we go.... Please click on this link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=2404531 565&rd=1 I got a great deal on this turbo and downpipe on ebay. I want to make sure it is possible to make it fit in my RS. ???? Also, can the internals of my RS handle the 210 hp I'm expecting after adding this GST turbo? My car has a 150,000 miles on it but it has been baby'd. Eventually, the engine will be replaced. But i'd like the status engine to last at least another 20-30,000 miles. Will the turbo destroy my engine? It's been taken care of. I am unfamiliar with the dynamics of how Turbos work. My knowledge only comes from what I've learned tonight while reading these forums. I am assuming I should buy an intercooler? Will the downpipe that comes with this turbo charger fit my RS? Or will i have to have a custom manifold made? I have some friends who have installed Turbo's into their Celica's and Civic's who are going to help me in this project. However, if y'all think that I'm getting my RS way in over it's head, please be honest. i'm not trying to blow my engine up. Aside from the turbo parts shown in the picture, what else will i need to buy????? By the looks of it, I know I'm being cheap, and it's almost ironic that I say I love my car and that I'm being so cheap, but i'm a college student with a love and desire to go fast. i got smoked by a friends stock 2002 celica gt and promised him by the end of the summer i'd have him. If you know what you're talking about please give me some advice other than to just buy a GSX/T. I am not going to sell my car. |

You will need to get a turbo manifold to bolt the turbo to, not like a GST manifold though, different engine. Hahn Racecraft sells them, I believe. The downpipe will also probably not fit, have to go with a custom one there too. With 150k miles, you should check your compression and probably rebuild your engine. Your internals should handle the horsepower, but you have to be careful not to run to high a boost level as NT pistons aren't forgiving with knock. Yes you should get an intercooler. You would also need to run oil and coolant lines to the turbo, get custom intercooler piping, bigger injectors, and some more things. I think it would be getting in over your head. If you want a turbo go with a Hahn kit. If you want to beat your friend, just get nitrous and you should have him with a 50 shot. Either route you take, check compression and rebuild if it is necessary.

Ok where to start. First things off, I think you're getting in over your head. Not trying to flame, but you bought a 2g T-25 turbo w/ a stock downpipe for a turbo FWD. You're going to need, Injectors(min 450's), SMIC(or a FMIC, but you're broke student), Use a Supra Sidemount. You're going to have to fab up an intake pipe, Upper Intercooler Pipe, Lower Intercooler Pipe, A Manual Boost controller, Boost gauge, You're going to need something to tune your fuel, EGT(pyrometer), Air Fuel Gauge(functional, not the bling bling one), An upgraded clutch, and also I believe you're going to need a new ECM, unless you can figure out some way to trick the ECM into seeing the turbo & adjusted fuel rates. Your best bet is to resell that turbo on Ebay & buy a Hahn kit if you're really serious about turbocharging your RS. Good luck,
Rob P.S. You should've bought a Turbo car in the first place...LOL J/k Someone had to say it.

I appreciate your answers. I'll take your advice and re-sell that Turbo. I only payed 130 for it, I'm confident I can make a profit.
Thanks again. |
