97 civic points or electronic ignition? please answer

Alright this about the stupidest question I have every asked, my '97 civic EX D16Y8 (a.k.a SOHC VTEC) has an electronic ignition doesn't it. I thought points were only on old cars but I wanted to double check in case I have to add a ballast resistor with this new coil I'm about to install. thanks in advance.

yes you will have to use the ballast resistor when using an aftermarket external ignition coil on your honda.
