Got an 1986 Honda Prelude Si 2.0 Fuel Injected engine. In hard to moderate acceleration the car backfires through what sounds like the airbox or intake. Got any ideas? All would be appreciated!

This is my brother's car & he says that he has not experienced any starting problems. The car has brand new plugs, wires, etc. The backfiring or "popping" sound makes me think that it could be an airflow meter. This could show up as code in the computer, but I haven't checked that yet. I might add that when running well, this can runs with & preforms as well as many newer Prelude(s) that I have driven.

yourn cam timing is probably off. does it seem to smooth out as you increase revs?
